Role Description:

Under the direction of the Assistant Director for Aquatics & Safety, DACCR, or other designated Facility Administrators, the Rockwall Monitor is primarily responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons at the CSB Rockwall through proactive safety measures, and fostering a positive, welcoming environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Open and close the Rockwall following established procedures.
  • Arrive on time, dressed in appropriate attire.
  • Check the Rockwall and fall mats for any potential hazards. Be aware of safety concerns.
  • Actively monitor Rockwall participants.
  • Recognize and respond effectively to injuries or incidents.
  • Enforce all Rockwall rules and regulations.
  • Document with detail any injuries or incidents.
  • Knowledge of facility layout and ability to give directions to patrons.
  • Communicate with other Rockwall Monitors in order to create a cohesive and collaborative team.
  • Communicate any questions, concerns, or patron issues to the Assistant Director, Aquatics & Safety as necessary.
  • Attend all required staff meetings and training.

Required Qualifications 

  • Currently enrolled University of Delaware Student.
  • Experience with rockwall or climbing programs and/or participation.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and effectively work with a diverse population.
  • Must have a positive attitude, flexibility, be dependable, and commitment to teamwork.
  • Ability to communicate tactfully with participants, coworkers, and supervisors.
  • A thorough understanding of the importance of the “Little Bob Way.”

Preferred Qualifications 

  • American Red Cross CPR/AED/First Aid certification.
