Schedule: Day. – Varies - Our office hours are M-F from 9AM to 5PM only 

Location: Residence Life and Housing Offices; Gilbert Hall Suite 112

Role Description:

The Office of Residence Life and Housing is seeking a responsible, motivated undergraduate student to assist with customer service to effectively answer questions and address concerns of callers.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Represent Residence Life and Housing by serving as a first point of contact for parents, students, and members of the University community (phone/in-person) to effectively answer questions, address concerns, or route them to personnel who can assist.  

  • Answer incoming phone calls and help manage main phone lines. 

  • Assist students and parents in obtaining accurate information from appropriate staff members within and outside of the department. 

  • Provide excellent customer service to all students and parents in a friendly, service-oriented, and professional manner. When responding to questions, you must display good judgement, confidentiality, and consideration of student needs and University policies. 

  • Access the Housing Administration system to answer questions about student housing applications, room assignments, billing and more. 

  • Develop accurate and detailed summaries of student and parent issues and send concerns to the appropriate personnel within and outside of the department for response or problem resolution.  

  • Initiate problem-solving steps to concerns commonly expressed by students and parents. 

  • Asist with various projects and office tasks as needed. 

Hiring Qualifications:  

  • Excellent oral communication skills required. 

  • Prior customer service experience preferred. 

  • Summer and Winter session schedule availability preferred. 

  • Must maintain a cumulative and semester grade point average of 2.5 or higher. 

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credits) for fall/spring semesters (unless an exception has been approved for a reduced course load). 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Position regularly requires sitting at a desk and working on a computer or answering a phone for extended periods. 

  • Position occasionally requires standing and walking around the office/campus as well as bending, kneeling, and lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling up to 30 pounds with or without assistance.
