Location: Roselle Center for the Arts

Role Description:

Under the supervision of the House Manager and Stage Manager, Event Staff provide multiple services in support of events and performances in the Center for the Arts, Bayard Sharp Hall, and Amy E. Dupont Music Building. Hours are variable, dependent on the event schedule, and average approximately 6-10 hours per week. Qualified candidates must be available and willing to work in the evenings and on weekends.

Primary Responsibilities:

Front of House

  • Warmly greet guests and aid them in navigating our venues
  • For ticketed events, conduct box office operations
  • Check guest tickets and assist them in finding seating
  • Answer general guest questions about the venue
  • Address guest concerns and escalate to House Manager as appropriate
  • Ensure that University and venue policies are followed by guests and clients

Back of House/Stage Area

  • Set stage according to layout provided
  • Interface with performers to confirm their needs are met
  • Open stage doors as performers enter and exit the stage
  • Adjust onstage setting throughout the event as needed
  • After the completion of an event, teardown staging and reset to default setting
  • Under direction of the Technical Assistant, assist in setup and teardown of Audio/Visual Technology
  • Ensure that University and venue policies are followed by clients and performers

Qualifications:  

  • Must be available and willing to work in the evenings and on weekends.
  • Must be comfortable interfacing with performers of all backgrounds
  • Must be able to lift at least 25lbs unassisted
  • Experience in a performing arts environment is a bonus

Eligibility for Graduate Student Employment

Applicants must be enrolled in a graduate program at the University of Delaware and be in good academic standing. To be considered for additional on-campus employment, applicants combined on-campus employment, including teaching, research and graduate assistantship, must not exceed 29.5 hours per week.

Graduate students on contract may hold additional employment, on campus or off, up to 29.5 hours per week total without approval by the student’s program, the student advisor or the Graduate College. However, graduate students on contract are encouraged to discuss additional employment with their advisors to avoid any situations that might hinder timely progress toward the degree.
