Basic Function: |
The Department of Management in the Ambassador Crawford College of Business and Entrepreneurship at Kent State university (Kent campus), seeks qualified applications for one tenure-track position with a focus on Strategic Management or the closely related field of International Business (IB). The position is for an Assistant Professor, to start in August 2026, and is subject to final budgetary approval. Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience and level of appointment. Summer support is available for the initial three summers, subject to budget restrictions. |

Duties/essential functions may include, but not be limited to, the following: The successful candidate will engage in high-quality research, teach strategy and/or IB courses, and engage in service to the institution and their academic field. Research will be publishable in top-tier management, strategy, or IB journals (e.g., ft50 and UT Dallas Journal rankings). Teaching will occur at the graduate or undergraduate levels and will involve strategy or IB courses. The teaching load is 2/2 for the entire probationary period of a new faculty member. |

Minimum Qualifications: |
Candidates must have earned a Ph.D. from an AACSB accredited university in business administration or management with concentration in strategic management or IB. ABD candidates on track to defend in 2025-2026 academic year or ideally by spring 2026 are encouraged to apply. Candidates must have demonstrable research interest and activity in strategic management and/or international business by the time of employment, with evidence of on-going and future research accomplishments including publications and presentations, and evidence of effective teaching. The ideal candidate will have a productive research portfolio, focusing on the top journals in management, strategy, and IB and be qualified to teach at the undergraduate, master's and doctoral levels. About the Department: The Department of Management, established in 2023 with organizational behavior, human resource management, strategic management and international business areas, currently has 5 tenure-track faculty and 3 full time non-tenure track faculty on the Kent Campus. There are two tenure-track full professors in the strategy/IB areas of the department who are active in the field and publish in Strategic Management Journal, Journal of International Business Studies, Academy of Management Review, Academy of Management Journal, and Journal of Management, among other journals. The strategy/IB areas in the management department are not currently committed to any particular topic of research, theory, or methodological approach and the department is open to applications from any scholar asking research questions that are currently at the core of the strategic management field. We are interested in colleagues who are driven by curiosity and passion for their research and target top journals.
