Job Summary: |
The Marist University Teacher Education Department seeks candidates for the Program Director and Professional Lecturer of Teacher Education to begin in the fall 2025. |
Minimum Qualifications: |
The successful candidate will have teacher certification, teaching experience in P-12 schools, and a student-centered approach to preparing future educators. A doctoral degree in education P-12 or a related field from an accredited university is required. Applicants should be able to model culturally responsive pedagogical approaches across all courses and foster inclusive classroom environments. |

About the Department/School: |
The Teacher Education Department is a member of the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences along with the departments of Psychology, Crime & Justice Studies, and Social Work. The Teacher Education Department offers a variety of teacher preparation programs including: (1) elementary education, grades 1-6, with dual certification for students with disabilities (2) a birth through second grade add-on teacher certification, and (3) a 5-year MAT adolescence education program, grades 7 – 12, with dual certification for students with disabilities in eight content areas (English, math, social studies/history, biology, chemistry, earth science, Spanish, and French). The department also offers an advanced master’s degree (MSED) program in two delivery models: as part of our in-house 5-year accelerated program or as an asynchronous online 16-month program. The Teacher Education Department and the School of Social and Behavioral Sciences are committed to advancing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive climate. The school has taken leadership with several social justice initiatives, including Creating an Inclusive Community dialogues, the Marist Center for Social Justice Research, and the Marist University Diversity Leadership Institute. |
