Student should be available to work several days per week, Monday through Friday within normal business hours (8am-5pm). Actual days and hours will be determined every semester, per mutual agreement.

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, Student Assistants perform duties ranging from unskilled to skilled and/or specialized, in a variety of positions that typically require the use of manual, clerical, public contact, and/or analytical skill. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Specific job duties are defined by the appropriate campus department.

Position Summary:

The Department of History is seeking a Federal Work Study Student Assistant to work in the front office. The Department of History Student Assistant will be responsible for answering department phone calls, assisting walk-in visitors, posting classroom and office hour signage, and helping maintain office supplies and break room materials. Other administrative duties may be assigned, as needed.

Duties:

Answer questions via telephone, email and in-person pertaining to student or faculty concerns and policies and direct inquiries appropriately. Perform administrative tasks such as copy requests, flyer and signage postings, and supply organization. Assist with department events. Other tasks as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

The Student Assistant applying for this position must be responsible, punctual, dependable, well-mannered, and responsive to the needs of students, staff and faculty. The Student Assistant should also have excellent organizational and communication skills.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
