Department

The Academic Senate is the official representative legislative body of the university and speaks on behalf of the university community on matters within its purview. The purpose of the Senate is to recommend policy on curriculum, academic standards, criteria and standards for the selection, retention, and tenure of faculty members and other matters that affect faculty and students. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Administrative Analyst/Specialist - Exempt I. Duties and Responsibilities

Under the general supervision of the Academic Senate Chair and other supervisor, the Administrative Analyst/Specialist – Exempt I works independently and oversees the day-to-day administrative and programmatic needs for the Academic Senate (AS). Provides administrative support to the Chair, Executive Committee, AS members, and AS Office. Provides direct analytical support for Academic Senate and Executive Committee meetings. Plans, purchases, and coordinates all meeting needs. The Administrative Analyst/Specialist leads and coordinates all Senate programmatic needs including retreats. Applies Academic Senate policy and processes to produce, publish, and archive AS documents and related actions by the Academic Senate, several standing committees, the office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the President's Office. Provides information, analysis, recommendations, and/or interpretations regarding the current University Policy Statements (UPS), coordinates CSU Academic Senator, and all University Academic Senate elections. Oversees the day-to-day administrative support as well as office budget and required documentation. Coordinates office events such as the Senate Retreat. The Administrative Analyst/Specialist leads the planning of office events, administrative needs, and staff. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving the study, analysis, evaluation, development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs plus two years of related experience. Working knowledge of and the ability to apply standard theories, principles, practices, and techniques applicable to the program or administrative specialty to develop conclusions and make recommendations. Thorough knowledge of policies, procedures, and outside regulations pertaining to the applicable program or administrative specialty. Working knowledge of operational and fiscal analysis and techniques. Ability to take initiative and plan, organize, coordinate, and perform work in various situations where numerous and diverse demands are involved. Skilled in research, development, and evaluation of policies and programs. Ability to collect, evaluate, and interpret data to develop sound conclusions and make appropriate recommendations. Expertise investigating and analyzing problems with broad administrative impact and implications. Ability to anticipate problems and address them proactively. Demonstrated ability to effectively interpret, organize, and present information and ideas in written or presentation form. Ability to train others on new skills and procedures and provide lead work direction.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Several years of professional work experience in the purpose and structure of a university, as well as faculty governance. Several years of administrative experience involving the study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the implementation, development, or improvement of university policies, procedures, practices, and programs. Previous project management experience, as well as experience leading and directing the work of others. Previous experience overseeing the day-to-day operations of an office or program. Previous experience coordinating or organizing various events and calendars. Ability to take meeting minutes. Knowledge of University Policy Statements (UPS), Microsoft Outlook, and all Microsoft software, Adobe, and other software. Possession of record management skills. Working knowledge of maintaining a website, using Google Docs, and the necessary administrative software programs.
