Cal State Fullerton’s (CSUF) University Extension within the Division of Academic Affairs collaborates with university departments and colleges on unique programs for students from the community and around the world. We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our University Extension Program Administration team as the Director, International and Professional Education Programs (Administrator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director of University Extension, the Director of International and Professional Education Programs is responsible for the strategic leadership, direction, and administration of a broad portfolio of self-supporting domestic and international programs. In this role, the Director will build strong external relationships, both globally and locally, to serve the training and development needs of international groups and regional corporate and community partners. The Director will serve as the University Extension subject-matter authority for international and professional education program strategy, expanding internal partnerships at CSUF in support of student experience, program development, enrollment management, and program administration. The Director will cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with public and private sector employers that lead to an informed understanding of educational and training needs in our region and translate those needs into sustainable, revenue-generating academic programs.

Internationally, the Director will lead and support efforts to engage current global partners and independently identify, negotiate, and develop new international partnerships and business opportunities. Responsibilities of this position include setting strategic priorities for outreach and relationship management with domestic and international partners, identifying and developing relevant training programs, and providing leadership for business development and relationship management. In addition to having responsibility for the recruitment and management of incoming international groups, the Director will serve in a leadership role for International Extension programs including the CSUF University Semester Abroad Program (USA), which welcomes international students for global education experiences at CSUF.

The Director has full accountability for the financial, enrollment, and operational performance of the unit, including development and oversight of multi-program budgets, revenue forecasting, financial risk management, and long-term sustainability. Exercise independent judgment in making recommendations that influence University Extension strategy, resource allocation, and program investment decisions and will develop and implement new programs with significant campus-wide and external impact. In this role, the Director will lead and reinforce a positive and collaborative environment with a focus on student experience, operational efficiency, fiscal sustainability, and partner relations, while representing University Extension in high-level internal and external forums. Essential Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and at least five years of successful experience in the development and management of higher education programs in a self-support environment required. Strong operational background in serving international and domestic learners. Demonstrated successful experience in financial/budget analysis and management. Must have a substantial understanding of financial management in a self-support environment. Excellent critical thinking skills including problem solving, decision making and conceptualizing. Demonstrated successful experience in project management. Excellent presentation and communication skills. Ability to deal effectively with ambiguity, change and adapt appropriately to a broad range of situations. Skilled in building alliances, partnering, and working as a positive, motivating force for collaboration and achievement within an organization. Demonstrated success in leading teams and in the management and supervision of people.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.  

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. Supervisory experience and bilingual preferred. Demonstrated success in domestic and international business development is strongly preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of CSUF infrastructure, policies, and procedures desirable. PeopleSoft, Salesforce, and SharePoint experience strongly preferred.
