POSITION

The Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Instructional Student Assistant Grader Pool.

We welcome applications from current CSUF undergraduate and graduate students in the Civil & Environmental Engineering department to work with individual faculty to grade homework in Electrical Engineering.  

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistant for the department to draw on as necessary.

Hours: Normal grading assignments vary from 1 hours to 12 hours a week. Students may work no more than a total of 20 hours per week.

APPLICANTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

JOB SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of a faculty supervisor, the Instructional Student Assistant will provide one-on-one or group tutoring, co-proctor exams, evaluate student homework and quizzes. Assignments have limited use of discretion and judgment. Work is regularly reviewed and may entail detailed instructions. Other job duties may be assigned by the individual faculty member.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Students must have completed EGCE 201 courses with a grade of B or higher.
  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in at least 6 units in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide eligibility documents

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $20.00

Instructional Student Assistants at CSUF after a break in service of 12 or more months who have not had a CSUF background check within the past 12 months will be subject to a new background check; rehire is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of the new background check.
