Instructional Student Assistant Pool AY 26-27

POSITION

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistants for the School of Accountancy department to draw on as necessary.

This position will have the following responsibilities:

  • Assist faculty with evaluating student work and examinations.
  • Grade exam questions of the form True/False and multiple choice.
  • Score scantron sheets if the exam is in scantron form.
  • Promptly email the instructor exam grades/ scores once they are done.
  • Assist the instructor in proctoring exams.

APPOINTMENTS FROM THE POOL ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED EMPLOYMENT ON VERY SHORT NOTICE.

REQUIRED
QUALIFICATIONS

  • Currently student and is enrolled/registered (fess paid) in a current semester as new or continuing student.
  • Student who has not completed prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing within the School of Accountancy (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
  • Excellent computer skills including Office, Excel and PowerPoint and other spreadsheet experience.
  • Type 40 CWAM and have a working knowledge of library and internet research.
  • Must have an excellent command of English – both oral and written
  • Ability to learn and perform assigned work
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels and read/write English at a level appropriate to the position

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Federal Work Study preferred
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Software, and any other software/technology appropriate for the position
  • Detail oriented with a strong ability to work independently

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.  Initial appointments are for one semester only.

Classification Range: $17.86 - $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualification, not to exceed $20.00
