Job Summary

Under direct supervision, the Student Assistant works in conjunction with Campus IT Staff on the ServiceNow Enterprise Application platform. Assist with maintaining, designing, and integrating a variety workflows and scripting in ServiceNow, as required. Knowledge and skills in applications programming and systems analysis and related programming support functions is a prerequisite. Perform other duties as assigned or assist staff directly with specific projects on demand.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Solid understanding of web database development, design and implementation, and scripting. Good problem solving skills with strong analytical ability over business and technical requirements and issues. Strong interpersonal skill with ability to work and communicate well with all levels of personnel with a good customer oriented mindset. Must be diligent, highly-motivated, independent and detail-oriented. Able to start work immediately or within short notice.

Required Qualifications

• Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
• Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
• In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
• Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Knowledge in ASP .NET, VB.NET, C#, Javascript and SQL database design and implementation preferred. Prefer at least 3 semesters remaining at CSUF due to the nature of training on and assimilating campus specific applications and development. Freshman or Sophomore year preferred.

Desired majors: Computer Science, Software Engineering, and Information Systems & Decision Sciences (ISDS).

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
