Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Office of the Vice President Operations team in Human Resources and Inclusive Excellence (HRIE), the Office Student Assistant provides clerical and administrative support to help the office operate efficiently. Duties are primarily routine to moderately skilled in nature and may involve public contact, records archiving, scanning, event support, and other duties as assigned. Work assignments involve discretion, confidentiality and are reviewed regularly, with guidance and detailed instructions provided as needed. Specific responsibilities are determined by the needs of the office.

Typical duties may include:
Provide front-desk coverage: greet visitors, answer phones, route inquiries, and take messages.
Assist with scheduling: reserve rooms, prepare resources, and send confirmations.
Assist staff with supporting correspondence: draft/format emails and letters, assist with mail distribution.
Maintain records: file, scan, copy, organize electronic and paper documents; support basic data entry.
Assist with office operations: track orders, stock supplies as deliveries arrive, and notify the Administrative Support team member of low inventory.
Support events/meetings: set up rooms, print agendas/sign-in sheets, assemble materials, and assist day-of.
Provide customer service to campus partners with professionalism and confidentiality.
Perform other related clerical duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.
