Weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., with a schedule established in consultation with the supervisor. (no more than 20 hours a week)

Job Summary

The Office of Engagement & Belonging supports the CSUF mission of preparing a diverse student body for academic and professional success. We develop and support practices, programs, and initiatives that advance inclusive excellence, belonging, and engagement across the university. Through educational programming, consultation, and training, we foster a campus community where students, staff, and faculty are equipped to create an equitable and welcoming environment.

Job Summary

The Engagement & Learning Designer will support the Office of Engagement & Belonging in reviewing the office's educational training resources. Working collaboratively with OEB staff and campus partners, the student assistant will conduct an inventory of existing learning modules and assist staff with training content to improve accessibility, engagement, and long-term sustainability. 

Priority projects include updating the Safe Space, Ally Training for Immigrant Support, and DIRC 101 learning modules, with opportunities to support revisions to LEAD workshop materials and other OEB educational initiatives as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Ability to learn and perform assigned work; follow oral instructions; work cooperatively with faculty, staff, and other students; communicate effectively with all levels; and read and write English at a level appropriate to the position.

  • Experience with instructional design, educational technology, or related work.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and project timelines.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.

  • Demonstrated commitment to the Office of Engagement & Belonging's mission of advancing inclusive excellence at CSUF.

Required Qualifications

  • Current student at CSUF and is enrolled/registered (fees paid) in a current regular semester as a new or continuing student.
  • Student who has completed the prior semester (has not graduated), or who is registered for the subsequent semester.
  • In good academic standing (not on academic probation, continued probation, academic dismissal).
  • Student who is authorized to work in the United States and can provide employment eligibility documents.

Background Check

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for this position. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
