PURPOSE:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Operations Support and Innovation (OSI), the Manager of Innovation and Deployment is responsible for leading and managing the implementation of innovative solutions and business applications supported by the OSI department across campus. This role focuses on enhancing operational efficiency, improving user experience, and ensuring the seamless deployment of business applications and process improvements. Key responsibilities involve overseeing critical projects and developing innovative solutions from inception to completion. This includes project management, collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, testing, change management, issue escalation, risk mitigation, training, and post-production stabilization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Innovation & Deployment:
Working with the functional groups identify opportunities for innovation and oversee the implementation efforts. Direct and lead the execution of critical projects and initiatives, including but not limited to CFS, CHRS, CSUBuy, Student Financials, Concur, Inter-Unit billing and FP&A software. Responsible for identifying challenges within functional groups and implementing effective solutions. Analyze current processes and workflows to identify areas of improvement. Implement best practices and processes to enhance efficiencies
2. Project Management:
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of projects supported by the OSI department across campus. Ensure projects are completed on time and within scope by developing project plans, timelines, budget, and monitoring progress against these metrics. Coordinate with CO project teams for system-wide implementations, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, such as consultants and vendors, to implement campus-initiated projects.
3. Functional and Technical Coordination:
Collaborate technical tasks with IT management and vendor consultants. Consults with functional managers and SMEs to identify business requirements and lead fit/gap analysis. Oversee and support testing, training and documentation services for the new solutions being implemented
4. Change Management:
Oversee and support change management strategies to facilitate the adoption of new applications and processes. Lead the training efforts and support stakeholder departments during the transition to the new applications and processes. Provides a high level of client service by responding to inquiries, providing information to external and internal clients. Oversee the maintenance and updating of campus web pages related to new and ongoing projects
5. Data Analytics:
Oversee and support initiatives to implement data analytical tools to support financial decision making by collecting, analyzing and reporting on financial data. Assist campus management in identifying trends, variances and opportunities to improve efficiencies. Provide reports on efficiencies and key metrices after go-live.
6. Leadership
Provide mentorship and professional development for direct reports while leading a team of SMEs and assigned business analysts.

- Participates in university task forces and special projects as required.
- Performs other job-related duties and special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to lead and coordinate ERP and business application projects.
- Knowledge of business process designs, systems requirements, information processing, systems analysis, and report development.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, users and the campus community demonstrating a high level of customer service.
- Experience delivering effective training and communication materials.
- Experience in preparing project plans and implementing change management initiatives.
- Ability to guide and work on functional and technical specifications.
- Working knowledge of tools and languages such as Visio, Lucidcharts, Smartsheet, and the Microsoft suite of applications including MS Projects
- Proven experience in managing multi-department projects/ implementations, which achieved defined objectives and delivering measurable results that established new or improved service(s).
- Experience working with PeopleSoft or similar ERP applications.
- Proven experience in project planning, project control techniques, and project management tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, change management, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to guide the work of direct-reporting staff, SMEs and project teams.
- Ability to manage large projects, meet goals and effectively meet required deadlines
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university AND two to four years of successful experience in systems implementation, project management, change management, including designing, training and documenting business processes for functional integration with Finance and HR departments. Ability to effectively interface with technical and nontechnical staff at all organizational levels.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Implementation experience with PeopleSoft or similar applications in finance and human resources. Proven supervisory experience leading direct-reporting staff, SMEs, and project teams. Knowledge of government regulations and CSU policies. Proficiency in writing queries using SQL or other querying tools. Experience managing website content for both new and existing projects. Certifications in project management and change management are desirable.
Technical fluency with Oracle/PeopleSoft, CSU Common Management System or equivalent student information system; Microsoft Office Professional Suite, and Google mail and calendaring programs.

- May require occasional evenings and/or weekend work.
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT:
Office environment with standard equipment and tasks. The position requires working at a computer and desk for extended periods of time. May require travel between campus offices and off-campus locations.
