Compensation and Benefits
Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,482 - $4,616 per month
Full CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,482 - $6,342 per month
- This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.
- Area of consideration is limited to on-campus, state funded employees only.
The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Job Summary
The Veterans Specialist will be part of the Veterans Resource Center under the University Registrar/Director for Veterans Services. This position will work in collaboration with the Veterans Coordinator to assist Fresno State’s Veteran and Dependent student population with certification for eligible educational benefits.
Key Qualifications
- Interpret and apply program rules and regulations.
- Use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements.
- Collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data.
- Advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required.
- Recognize multicultural, multisex, and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU Administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts.
- Rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the university.

Education and Experience
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration, or a job‑related field and one year of professional student services experience. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis.
Department Summary
The Veterans Resource Center provides service to students who are receiving Veteran or Dependent educational benefits. The office works in collaboration with other supporting programs across campus to ensure Veteran and Dependent students receive the information and resources they need to be successful at Fresno State.
