The Position: Under the general direction of the Senior Associate VP & CHRO, the Classification and Compensation Manager is responsible for the leadership and oversight of the compensation, classification, document administration, and records, and other pay programs such as MPP/C99 Merit. Provides solutions to a wide range of difficult compensation and HR related issues. Manages the day-to-day operations of the Compensation Services team including hiring, coaching, training, and on-going feedback from compensation staff. Ensuring all actions adhere to campus and CSU guidelines and policies, state and federal regulations as well as collective bargaining agreements. The incumbent serves as the campus subject-matter expert on classification and compensation, providing consultation and guidance to campus leadership on complex organizational, compensation, and workforce-planning matters. Serves as the campus content expert by providing guidance and assistance to campus partners. Identifies issues and formulates solutions across organizational boundaries to ensure compliance. Participates in system-wide committees and work groups. Develop internal guidelines and procedures. Participates in and contributes to the development of project improvement initiatives within the division of Human Resources. Serves on and chairs campus committees, as needed. The position directly supervises one Confidential (C99) Classification and Compensation Analyst. |

Required Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience will be considered in areas of compensation administration and with five to eight years of professional human resources experience which provided the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to successfully perform the duties and responsibilities of the position. Must be proficient in the use of Excel spreadsheets. Must be proficient in written and oral communications. Must have proven experience in teaching small groups as well as one on one effective communications skills. Experience in significant and continuous use of positive customer service. Must have proven experience in the areas of compensation administration including use of classification systems, conducting surveys and good mathematical skills. Incumbent must demonstrate an interest or ability in working in a multicultural/multiethnic environment. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who may apply for the position. |

Desired Qualifications: Master’s degree in human resources from an accredited college or university or business operations field is desirable. Demonstrated knowledge of CMS/PeopleSoft experience preferred. Experience working in higher education. Experience working in the California State University system. Familiar with various CBAs and Management personnel Plan in the CSU System. Familiar with Cal State LA Compensation processes. Experience leading and delivering training for management-level personnel. |

Compensation: Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Salary range is $ 5,053 - $ 16,221/monthly. A comprehensive benefits package is provided. |

Appointment: The Administrator II appointment will be made under the guidelines for management and supervisory employees of the California State University. All rights and benefits associated with this appointment are governed by the Management Personnel Plan. |
