Job Summary

Under general direction of the Inventory and Depot Manager, the University Housing Depot Lead Support Associate facilitates prioritization of laborer daily assignments and reconciles completed work with the Operations and Depot Coordinator. This position works alongside the laborers (Depot Support Associates) to perform a wide range of laborer work within the department. In addition to performing the full range of laborer work, the Lead Support Associate acts in a lead capacity by being responsible for directing the work of one or more employees. The Lead Support Associate will also provide training to Support Associates, and student assistants in work safety and vehicle safety.

University Housing (UH) is a department within the division of Administration and Finance that provides a premier living experience for students in residence hall and apartment-style communities at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly, Solano in Vallejo, CA. Key Qualifications

  • Assign, review, and assess the work of assigned staff (Depot Support Associates and student assistants) including completion of work logs, database entries and reposting of any operational concerns. Prioritize work throughout the day for assigned staff. Prepare and submit labor cards and work orders.
  • Identify and assist in the communications with University Housing staff, residents, and program coordinators on work orders pertaining to services and events.
  • Organize and ensure completion of assigned staff’s daily work; assist with closing work orders and/or supply requests.
  • Provide training in areas such as safe lifting, hauling, and loading techniques; safe use of equipment, chemicals and materials; and personal protective equipment and safety data sheets. Ensure health and safety standards are followed and take immediate action to correct all unsafe conditions
  • Lead student assistant recruitment, hiring, training, and  scheduling based on current and anticipated workloads and upcoming event support.

  • Any combination of training, experience, and/or education sufficient to demonstrate the required qualifications.

Salary and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Range: $44,076 - $54,804 Per Year

Classification Range: $41,532 - $57,024 Per Year

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Anticipated Hiring Range referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Classification Range may be broader than what the University anticipates paying for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
