Department Overview:

The Gene Expression Center provides cost-effective, cutting edge transcriptomic (bulk, single cell & spatial transcriptomic) and large scale genotyping/methylation services to the University of Wisconsin campus as well as colleagues at public and private institutions.

Schedule:

Minimum 8 hours a week. Must be able to have 3-4 hours chunks of time to work, otherwise, flexible around class schedules.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

● Ability to learn quickly

● Minimum of three hour time intervals to work between 8-5

● Organizational Skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

● Good understanding of Microsoft EXCEL
Preferred: good pipetting practices

Position Summary/Job Duties:

● Handle sample submission and pick up - gathering ice and samples
● Follow detailed standard operating procedures and protocols
● Perform Quality Control (Quantification and Quality Analysis) of RNA and DNA samples according to client preferences and downstream applications
● Organization and basic analysis of produced Quality Control data
● Log samples in freezer organization spreadsheet
● General lab maintenance tasks

Physical Demands:

Be able to lift 20lbs and be on feet for extended periods of time.
