Department Overview:

The Office of Communications and Advancement (C&A) within the UW–Madison School of Education is an integrated and collaborative unit that helps increase awareness and visibility of faculty and staff, departments, academic programs, and service units through a range of communications and marketing efforts. The office also serves and engages alumni and friends, builds and nurtures internal and external relationships, and develops and enhances lifelong philanthropic relationships.

Qualifications:

Current student, not graduating until at least December 2025.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

We are looking for a student:
-who follows instructions, is attentive to detail, and can recognize spelling, grammar, and punctuation errors.
-who is comfortable asking questions and interacting with others.
-who is familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Suite
-who is comfortable completing repetitive tasks
-who is eager to provide quality service to clients

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The School of Education is seeking a motivated student to complete a variety of administrative tasks within the Office of Communications and Advancement. This office produces a variety of print and digital communications, markets to prospective students of the School of Education, and produces high visibility and high quality student, alumni and donor events. This position will be at the core of supporting all these operations.

Duties can include:
-purchasing supplies and services
-inventorying and organizing promotional items
-developing and improving office infrastructure (ex. Knowledge Base articles)
-completing small research tasks
-sorting emails and assisting with meeting scheduling
-writing thank you notes to donors
-assisting with task management and creating meeting agendas
-preparing for and supporting events, including ordering catering, nametag creation, room setup, picking up and purchasing supplies within walking distance of the Education Building
