Department Overview:

The Quality Improvement with Data (QID) group conducts research to improve long-term care and other health systems through the development of information and decision support systems and dissemination and implementation of quality improvement measurement and support systems. Our projects have website components, and this position supports these websites, users and provides administrative support and coverage for the helpdesks and the research team. Primary responsibilities will be customer service through email and phone coverage for website helpdesks, organization, data entry and clerical research support.

Schedule:

Student Helpdesk coverage is needed Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 am-5:00 pm, coverage is shared by multiple students, working around your class schedules during the semester, with opportunities for increased hours during school breaks. Each position will be 10-30 hours per week, preferably at least 2 or 3 days per week. These positions are for year-round coverage, including UW Summers, Winter and Spring Breaks.

Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Minimum: 15.00/hour

Required Knowledge and Skills
1. This person must have strong customer service, communication, and organizational skills, be able and consistent in providing professional and courteous telephone, email, and in-person assistance and communication.
2. Must be detail and service oriented, a good problem solver who will seek creative and complete resolution to problems.
3. Ability to work independently and effectively under general supervision, exercising good judgment, taking initiative, and seeking solutions to problems and improvements.
4. Must be a team player with a willingness to learn, effectively and efficiently using time and resources allocated to complete tasks, is punctual and meets deadlines, effectively prioritizes task at hand to meet expectations.
5. Proficient using word processing, spreadsheet, email and internet software; experience with Microsoft Office Suite required (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
6. Willingness to work independently and as a team player and to grow in the position and with the projects.

Other Skills We Value
• Data entry experience and the ability to read handwriting, especially cursive
• Skills or interest in graphic art, website design, or copy editing.
• Knowledge of or willingness to learn about website content editing using a web design tool such as Adobe Dreamweaver.
• Skills or interest in data visualization and presentation (graphs/charts/maps)
• Interest in health systems research and quality improvement.

Primary Activities
• Primary program receptionist and office organization
• Responsible for answering helpdesk telephone lines and responding to emails, in a timely, professional and courteous manner.
• Responsible for solving logon and user issues and directing more complex questions and problems to appropriate research staff
• Administrative upkeep of Excel and web-based user lists and accounts
• Scheduling and attendance at project meetings
• Data entry
• Website content
