Department Overview: |
The Center for Dairy Research (CDR) works for dairy farmers and supports the dairy industry through technical support, research and training. We are the largest of six dairy research centers in the United States, and focus on cheese, specialty cheese, cultured products, yogurt, dairy powders and butter. Each year we conduct around 40 short course training sessions and 70 industry tours, visits and meetings; participate in about 15 community engagements and host three annual industry events. |

Qualifications: |
1. Ability to thrive in a face-paced setting and complete tasks with urgency as needed, while balancing prep time and computer time. 2. Clear, respectful and timely written and oral communication skills. 3. General computer skills in data entry and with various software. 4. Ability to work independently and follow instructions and guidance, along with the awareness to ask questions or ask for help when needed. 5. Enjoy working with other people and being a part of a team |
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: |
1. Food handling skills, or the interest and ability to learn. Examples include: cutting cheese in various shapes, sizes, amounts; spooning yogurt into sample cups; pouring liquids into sample cups; preparing grilled cheese sandwiches, pizzas and cheese wheels. |
Position Summary/Job Duties: |
1. Assist short course training staff with set-up and execution of short course lectures and activities, visits, and tours. |
Physical Demands: |
some lifting; stocking (printed booklets, beverages, food); cleaning (wiping tables/counters, sweep/mop as needed); food prep; standing in training center and pilot plant; walking upstairs and back and forth throughout training center; moving tables and chairs. |
