Must be an undergraduate student at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Research or agricultural experience preferred. |

Interest in horticulture, agronomy, or plant breeding and willingness to learn new tasks. |
Position Summary/Job Duties: |
The Goldman lab (https://goldman.horticulture.wisc.edu) is looking for an undergraduate student hourly worker to work with us beginning in late-August and continuing through the school year, with potential for summer employment. Our work involves carrot, onion, and table beet breeding research and development. Our group manages field plots at a number of locations around Wisconsin from late April through late September. Tasks include planting, weeding, assembly of crossing cages, thinning, pollinations, seed production, root harvest, data collection, sample collection, and packing roots for storage. Between September and April, our work moves into the lab and greenhouse. Additional tasks include seed cleaning, data entry, and laboratory work. Students would gain experience in field research and plant breeding. |
