Department Overview:

The MLRC is a research center focused on teaching and learning. Our goal is to advance educational outcomes for multilingual learners through innovative and socially just research and research–practice partnerships. The MLRC is part of the University of Wisconsin—Madison School of Education and is located within the Wisconsin Center for Educational Research.

Qualifications:

Current UW Madison Undergrad

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

·  Strong organizational skills for managing event logistics, including preparing materials, tracking participant registrations, and maintaining an organized calendar.

·  Effective communication and writing skills for creating and scheduling social media posts, writing newsletter content, and interacting with event participants.

·  Basic video editing and digital content management abilities to edit and upload event recordings, organize photos, and manage digital files and project trackers.

Position Summary/Job Duties:

The MLRC Event Intern offer a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event coordination and communications within a global research-practice partnership dedicated to improving outcomes for multilingual learners. The Event Intern will be responsible for:

·  Remote/Virtual Event Planning and Logistics: Assist with the preparation and execution of various events, including Research Symposia, Speaker Series, and webinars. This involves tasks such as assembling and packing materials, tracking registrations, and managing communications with participants.

·  Communications and Outreach: Support communication campaigns for events, create content for newsletters and social media, and track attendee questions during live events.

·  Content Management: Help with post-event tasks like editing and uploading recordings, organizing photos and videos, and maintaining trackers for capstone reports and conference calendars.

·  Administrative Support: Assist with administrative duties, including reviewing surveys, preparing certificates of participation, and managing tasks in project management software (Asana).
