Position Summary
The Technician A for the Department of OBGYN will assist within the laboratory of Dr. Yousin Suh to facilitate bioinformatic analysis focused on the genetics of human aging and aging-related diseases. The individual will work closely with Principal Investigators and bioinformatics postdocs on a variety of research projects related to the identification of genetic risk factors of aging-related disorders.
Responsibilities
- Review data for errors. Errors are usually difficult to detect and may result in difficult and/or costly adjustments which may adversely affect the result of a research project
- Supporting genetic data download, transfer, and storage
- Assisting data collection from public databases
- Assisting process and analysis of high-throughput sequencing data to achieve accurate and consistent results
- Assisting data display for scientific observation and description
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 years of college or completed A.A. program with an emphasis in chemistry, biology or physics or the equivalent in education, training and experience
- Knowledge of basic chemical and/or biological terminology and techniques
- Knowledge of basic programming languages
- Knowledge of basic computer operations
- Knowledge of basic statistics
- Ability to perform work in a neat and orderly manner, following safety regulations
- Ability to present data to Principle Investigator
- Ability to record data in a scientific notebook
- Ability to learn and adapt to a new type of data and statistics
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in bioinformatics
