Position Summary
Dr. Sally Amundson’s laboratory at the Center for Radiological Research at Columbia University is looking for a technician B to work in close collaboration with scientists using gene-expression-based approaches to understand the mechanistic basis of radiation response. The job responsibilities will include the following:
Responsibilities
- Training and performing work with animal models and human tissue
- Performing real-time PCR and other basic molecular biology techniques and related analysis methods.
- Developing skill sets in RNAseq and subsequent data analysis.
- Maintaining and sharing records, completing scientific and technical tasks in a timely fashion and helping to maintain a smoothly functioning laboratory.
- Performing related duties & responsibilities as assigned/requested
We are part of a large team, under the Center for High Throughput Minimally Invasive Radiation Biodosimetry at Columbia University Medical Center consisting of biologists, physicists, and statisticians.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Must have general knowledge of molecular and cellular biology.
Preferred Qualifications
- Some laboratory experience is preferred, especially familiarity with RNA techniques and qRT-PCR.
