Position Summary
Licensed art therapist, working under the auspices of CARING at Columbia, to co-lead two manualized parent/child groups in conjunction with a Head Start Program. Art therapist will also co-lead with a Child Psychiatry Fellow and a visual arts group at the Psychiatric Institute CDU and the therapist will also supervise the Child Fellow on the techniques of using art to child in their interaction with children and adolescents. This position has the possibility of expanding in time in the future.
Responsibilities
- Learn CARING at Columbia prevention models for Parent/Child groups and collaborate with. Co-leader to provide weekly group sessions for prevention groups as per manual training. Develop prevention curriculum as needed for CDU groups and coordinate with Child Fellows.
- Maintain contact with CARING partnership coordination staff for smooth operations at the sites. Support selection process of group participants referred to CARING program at partnership sites in accordance with CARING’s inclusion and exclusion criteria.
- Distribute, collect and maintain data including attendance, consent forms and outcome measures for all participants in the CARING groups.
- Complete weekly written progress notes for each group to be reviewed by other CARING staff and CARING Board of Directors.
- Refer and follow-up with partnership site coordinator on all group participants who exhibit the need for further assessment.
- Complete all necessary training and attend meetings for CARING program.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience; plus three years related experience in early childhood work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree.
- Spanish speaking a plus.
Other Requirements
- Must complete all online systems training requirements.
- Must be Licensed Art Therapist in New York.
- Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, group work and communication skills.
- Basic skills with Microsoft Office.
