Position Summary
Reporting to the Director of Networks, the Systems Administrator will be responsible for administering and maintaining the SIPA networks. As a critical member of the IT team at the Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs (SIPA), they will manage the day-to-day operation of the SIPA network.

Responsibilities
System Management: Administers Group Policies, AD rights assignments, network printing, and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) technologies.
User Management: Manages all SIPA student, faculty staff and network client IDs, maintains AD user accounts, and sets up OneDrive, SharePoint and Exchange for staff and faculty.
Network Management: Ensures network security and connectivity; monitors network performance and tests for weaknesses.
Scripting and Automation: Utilizes scripting languages (PowerShell, BASH) to automate tasks and improve network efficiency.
Cloud Management: Assists with the migration of on-premises applications to cloud infrastructure, with a focus on Azure or equivalent.
Contributes to the administration, support, and maintenance of SIPA infrastructure, including hardware, software, and cloud services.
Performs related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science, or equivalent, and a minimum of three years of related experience.

Proven experience in a systems administrator role.

Hands-on experience with Windows Server/Windows and macOS, Active Directory, MS Office, Endpoint Manager/SCCM, VDI technology (VMware / AVD).

Experience with Azure, Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 and its components, Microsoft Exchange 365, TCP/IP, NAT, DNS, DHCP, and server hardware.

Experience troubleshooting network issues with Windows and Mac systems required.

Familiarity with scripting languages (PowerShell, BASH).

Highly technically skilled and administratively organized.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Extensive experience working with end users.

Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced work environment.

Ability to proactively work on diverse problem scopes.
Preferred Qualifications

SQL Database Administration.

Security+ Certification, or equivalent.

Experience with testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.

Experience with the use of Power Tools for task automation.
