Position Summary
The Daniels College of Business seeks an individual with an established track record in leading organizational transformation and product and service innovation to spearhead its career services function. This is a unique opportunity to build a comprehensive, high-performing service function to serve aspiring business professionals and established business professionals seeking new career opportunities or career transitions. Daniels Career Services (DCS) serves graduate and undergraduate business students as well as alumni, offering self-assessments, career coaching, workshops, seminars, mentorship programs, career programming, and fairs to position people for jobs, internships, and life-long careers in business. The Director has direct oversight for strategy, employer outreach, business development, talent management, data analysis, programming, and fiscal management for the career services function. The position reports to the Executive Director of Student Success. The incumbent will be a visionary thinker and strong implementer capable of working in fast-paced, changing environments as well as a person who understands how to develop and market talent. It is also important for this individual to be data-driven and able to set performance bars and measures of accountability to ensure strong outcomes, namely in the areas of student and employer engagement, post-graduation employment rates, starting salaries, and student and employer satisfaction.
Essential Functions
Strategy and Execution: Develops strategies that inspire people and align the College and University with market needs in areas such as programs and services, outreach and marketing, and tools, delivery platforms, and data. Provides leadership for the execution of the strategy and drives all resources toward achieving defined goals in student and employer engagement, employment rates, starting salaries, and student and employer satisfaction levels.
Outreach and Collaboration: Works collaboratively with various stakeholders to further the goals of career services and increase visibility and reputation in the community. This includes Daniels academic chairs and directors, faculty, alumni, senior leadership, DU career services colleagues, other administrators, networks of business leaders and employers, and professional associations. Develops deep relationships.
Business Development: Through outreach and collaboration, develops and sustains a robust pipeline of internships and job opportunities for students and alumni, including regional, national, and international locations. Collaborates with employers to design optimal marketing strategies to recruit Daniels talent and to match job opportunities with qualified candidates.
Talent Management: Responsible for hiring the best talent available and developing/motivating staff to be successful through coaching and evaluation against key performance indicators. Establishes an environment that results in high-performing teams and shared responsibility for achieving goals. Has the ability to develop staff talent throughout various stages of their careers.
Data and Metrics: Responsible for ensuring that career services data systems meet the requirements for reporting to the MBA Career Services and Employer Alliance (MBA CSEA), the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), and various ranking groups. This includes the collection and compilation of post-graduate employment outcome and salary data for each recruiting cycle, continuous analysis of the data to adjust actions, timely reporting of the data, and assessment of the process for continuous improvement. Effectively communicates results and markets success stories.
Programs, Technology, and Tools: Develops and implements programs that prepare students for their careers and the job search process using traditional, hybrid, and online delivery modes. Stays current with best practices in career services and ensures that the technology and tools available to staff and students/alumni are up-to-date and relevant. Continuously monitors workforce trends in placement and salaries by industry/sector, the economic marketplace in general, and demographic and intergenerational changes. Uses social media and other technologies to communicate effectively.
Fiscal Stewardship: Responsible for planning, allocation, and tracking of all career services resources.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, counseling, education, human resource management or a related field.
- At least 7 years of experience in higher education career services or equivalent industry experience in talent acquisition and management, team development, recruiting or hiring management, corporate human resources or other human capital management related roles in progressively responsible positions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in business administration, counseling, student affairs, human resources management, higher education administration or related field. Experience working in a business school career services center.
- Significant professional work experience outside of academia.
- Experience with direct career counseling or mentoring of students.
- Previous or current leadership role within career services associations.
- Membership in MBA Career Services & Employer Alliances (MBA CSEA) and/or National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).
- Detailed knowledge of various business school rankings processes.

- Ability to work in front of a computer for extended periods of time.
- Occasionally required to move about the office/campus.
Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. In accordance with the University’s flexible work policy, this position is eligible to be considered for partial remote work. Salary Grade Number:
The salary grade for the position is 13.
Salary Range:
The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $105,000.
The University of Denver has provided a compensation range that represents its good faith estimate of what the University may pay for the position at the time of posting. The University may ultimately pay more or less than the posted compensation range. The salary offered to the selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal salary equity considerations, and available market information, but not based on a candidate’s sex or any other protected status.
