    Department Chair, Electrical & Computer Engineering in Denver, CO

    Reporting to the Dean of the Ritchie School of Engineering and Computer Science, the Department Chair oversees the orderly administration of their department, school, or program. This position is responsible for the management of department staff and faculty (e.g., assignment of work, merit, promotion and tenure); the quality of its educational program; and the maintenance of high standards in teaching and scholarship/creative work on the part of its faculty. This includes taking care of tasks ranging from necessary administrative details and processes (e.g., planning the instructional program, preparing and administering the budget, ongoing collaboration and communication with RSECS and DU administrators and staff), and leading it in medium term and strategic planning. Further, this position not only serves as an advocate and supporter of the individual department, school, or program, but also as a part of RSECS leadership with expectations for considering and serving the needs of all RSECS students, staff, and faculty. The Department Chair is an institutional authority, responsible for knowing, following, and enforcing all institutional policies, as well as being a positive influence on the culture of their program and the university.
