The Role

SRG has a career opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Project Engineer at our Cameron Park (Newcastle) office in NSW. Aas a Project Engineer, you will play a crucial role in assisting our clients in the effective management of their Power Generation assets.

Your responsibilities will encompass delivering technical support to Project Managers during substantial shutdowns/outages and taking direct charge of smaller projects for our Power Industry clients. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide/coordinate Engineering, Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) and Metallurgical solutions to common issues on boilers, turbines, and ancillary plant.
  • Perform plant inspections as required.
  • Ensuring adherence to pressure equipment regulations for clients throughout outage periods.
  • Assist with the coordination of engineers, plant inspectors, and NDT technicians during plant outages and shutdowns, including emergency repairs.
  • Compile technical reports based on inspection and NDT results.
  • Develop inspection strategies and scopes of work.
  • You will gain broad exposure in diverse operations while seeing the impact of your recommendations in sound decision making. Additionally, you will assist engineers during the inspection, technical assessment, evaluation and reporting stages of the project.

The successful applicant will ideally have:

  • Degree or certificate in Mechanical / Materials Engineering. Graduate engineers will also be considered.
  • AICIP qualification is desirable.
  • Knowledge and experience with heavy industry such as Power Plants, Oil and Gas, or Process Industries preferably in an engineering, inspection, or advanced NDT role is desirable.
  • Risk and hazard identification and assessment experience
  • Good communication skills at all levels (both written and verbal).
  • Ability to work both individually, or as part of a highly skilled team.
  • Dynamic, self-motivated, results oriented with a strong sense of urgency and willingness to learn.
  • Be proactive in upholding compliance with company safety and quality objectives. 
  • Ability to build rapport at all levels of an organisation.
