A bit about the role
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to lead the largest local government leisure contract in Victoria, and the third largest in Australia, right here at the City of Casey.
With over 2.5 million visitors annually, you’ll oversee a portfolio that includes state-of-the-art aquatic and stadium facilities, The Shed indoor skate park, and the beloved Myuna Farm.
As Head of Leisure Facility Management, you’ll work in partnership with experienced contractor Aligned Leisure to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and responsive services that keep our community healthy, active, and connected. The Vision
We work in partnership with our leisure contract partners to provide opportunities for the Casey community to be active and socially connected. Through our leisure facilities, we provide a unique, interactive and inclusive experiences that range from farming to sporting opportunities that help people connect, participate and belong.
What you’ll deliver
- Oversee and foster a strong partnership with Aligned Leisure to enhance and support leisure facility service standards to ensure compliance with customer safety, staff and volunteer OHS, duty of care, and ethical obligations.
- Monitor contract specifications, key performance indicators, financials, and facility performance to report impacts on Leisure Facility outcomes to stakeholders and Council Executive.
- Support the implementation of the recommendations derived from the Leisure Facilities Service Review in partnership with Aligned Leisure.
- With a focus on community outcomes, continuous improvement and service excellence.
- Continuously review the Capital Works Program, Myuna Farm Masterplan, and maintenance priorities.
- Negotiate project delivery and contract variations when significant service impacts arise.
- Cultivate strong contract partner relationships to ensure service provision meets community needs.
- Actively seek external industry networks and advocate for sector improvements reflecting on experience and being open to continuous improvement.
- Lead and motivate staff to enhance collaboration, productivity, continuous improvement, innovation, safety and job satisfaction.
You will directly support Casey Leisure contractor Aligned Leisure to succeed through:
- Working collaboratively with the Area Manager of Casey Leisure to annually update business plans and associated financial models.
- Build trust through providing in real time, insights to community data that will support evidenced based decision making.
- Advocate and support the Casey Leisure team through consistent accountability measures that are reasonable and foster true partnership philosophy.
- Seek to understand business needs first through critical and analytical thinking.
- Develop a high level of trust with contract partner Aligned leisure through meeting regularly to review performance taking a shared approach to celebrations and problem-solving.
- Work with the Area Manager to ensure operating models remain financially viable in a competitive landscape.
What you’ll bring
- A robust knowledge of contract, leisure facility management and service agreements are essential.
- Experience with Local Government Act Procurement protocols.
- Experience in stakeholder management and engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, train, and motivate staff in a changing environment, with an emphasis on building a positive and collaborative culture that has a can do and continuous improvement mindset.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
- A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
