A bit about the role

This role is pivotal in managing and enhancing our community's public spaces, including significant landscapes, public art, and plays paces.

You will lead a dedicated team, oversee maintenance contracts, and drive capital works projects to ensure our public spaces are safe, vibrant, and engaging for all residents.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Strategic Management: Oversee maintenance contracts and minor construction contractors for significant landscapes, public art, and playspaces.
  • Team Leadership: Manage customer requests, works inspections, and responsive works programming.
  • Project Management: Deliver minor capital works projects from planning to commissioning, coordinating with various stakeholders.
  • Contract Management: Prepare specifications, manage and supervise contractors, and ensure compliance with contract specifications and Australian Standards.
  • Budget Management: Handle budgets related to operational maintenance and minor capital works projects.
  • Community Engagement: Liaise with residents, customers, Councillors, and senior management to prioritise and implement improvement projects.

What you’ll deliver 

  • Enhanced Public Spaces: Ensure the maintenance and upgrade of playspaces, public art, and significant landscapes, making them safe and enjoyable for the community.
  • Efficient Project Delivery: Successfully manage and deliver capital works projects on time and within budget.
  • Compliance and Safety: Maintain high standards of compliance with contract specifications and safety regulations.
  • Community Satisfaction: Respond to and manage customer requests effectively, ensuring high levels of community satisfaction.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Lead and develop a team of dedicated professionals, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

What you’ll bring 

  • Qualification or experience in playspace, public art, or public landscapes maintenance.
  • Experience in contract supervision and management.
  • Budget management experience.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in children’s outdoor environments.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
  • A curious, collaborative, and inclusive community mindset.
