A bit about the role
As part of a team, you will ensure high standards of kitchen cleanliness and assist with basic food preparation and service delivery within Bunjil place.
This will include replenishing tea and coffee stations as well as set up and breakdown of functions and events.
Under supervision of the Head Chef, you will also have the opportunity to support Kitchen and Function and Event Operations on a rotating roster with a mix of days, evenings and weekends.
What you’ll deliver
- Basic kitchen hand assistance such as food prep and sandwich preparation, washing dishes, cleaning and sanitizing equipment and kitchen surfaces.
- Pack away food deliveries, rotate stock in the storeroom and cool room.
- Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in the kitchen, function equipment and rooms.
What you’ll bring
- Experience in basic food preparation with an understanding of kitchen hygiene practices
- Ability to work effectively as part of a small team
- Great communication skills
- Able to manage time, work well under pressure and prioritise tasks
- Previous kitchen experience is essential
- Advanced First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Food Safety Handler Level 1 is essential
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check, Functional Assessment (Medical/physio)
