A bit about the role
Join the vibrant team at Bunjil Place Café as our Café Lead, this hands-on leadership role is perfect for a hospitality professional passionate about exceptional customer service, team development, and operational excellence. You'll oversee financial performance, stock levels, rostering, and equipment maintenance, and contribute to aligning the café's offering with Bunjil Place’s cultural and community programs. What you’ll deliver
- Lead the day-to-day operations of the café across 7 days, ensuring high standards in customer service and operational efficiency.
- Supervise, train, and motivate a team of Café Attendants to deliver exceptional service.
- Manage stock control, ordering, and to support smooth café operations.
- Monitor and manage financial performance, including cost of goods sold (COGS) and rostering within budget.
- Respond to customer feedback and implement service or menu improvements to enhance the visitor experience.
What you’ll bring
- Proven leadership experience in managing a professional café or hospitality environment.
- Relevant qualifications in hospitality (diploma or degree preferred), Food Safety and Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certifications.
- Advanced First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain.
- Proven experience in coffee brewing preparation and barista training
- Availability to work some evenings and weekends is essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite of programs
- Strong commitment to delivering outstanding customer service and team performance.
- Sound knowledge of stock control, equipment maintenance, and safe kitchen practices.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check, Functional Assessment (Medical/physio).
