A bit about the role
Support the delivery of a compliant and efficient building service by ensuring adherence to the Building Act and local regulations, while providing technical guidance to internal stakeholders across the City of Casey.
What you’ll deliver
- Ensure compliance with building legislation, codes, and standards under direction.
- Conduct building inspections in response to complaints and departmental requests.
- Issue and follow up on inspection notices and orders.
- Provide on-site advice and direction to builders, subcontractors, and property owners.
- Assist in assessing various permit applications (e.g. Building, Hoarding, POPE).
- Participate in after-hours callouts on a rostered basis.
- Monitor project performance, manage risks, and resolve issues.
- Deliver projects on time, within budget, and to required standards.
What you’ll bring
- Demonstrated knowledge of the legislation relevant to the building industry.
- Ability to interpret legislation, policies and apply precedents.
- Building Inspector/Surveyor qualification including Registration as a Building Practitioner with the Building & Plumbing Commission, in the category of Building Inspector Unlimited, is desirable.
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check & Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
