A bit about the role

This role will contribute to the development of sustainable infrastructure management in the City of Casey by supervising and delivering Building Infrastructure projects.

You will collaborate with the Building Design and Construction team to manage resources and oversee major building construction programs.

What you’ll deliver 

Project Management Responsibilities:

  • Administer and monitor contractors' compliance with contractual specifications and OHS regulations for major building infrastructure projects
  • Manage day-to-day progress of construction projects within the City of Casey
  • Assist in design development, reviewing architectural and services packages
  • Integrate architectural projects with urban design, landscape architecture, and civil design disciplines
  • Ensure project delivery on time, within budget, and to high standards

Stakeholder and Communication Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a single point of contact and decision-maker for contractors.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholder groups.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and track project progress using Altus system.

Operational Duties:

  • Monitor projects through site visits, audits, and compliance assessments
  • Evaluate design plans for integrity and policy conformity

Leadership Expectations:

  • Demonstrate leadership within and outside the division
  • Provide guidance and support to team members
  • Encourage continuous improvement and professional development

What you’ll bring 

  • Degree or tertiary qualification in Architecture or Building Design
  • Demonstrated experience in architectural design of council building projects such as Community Centres, Sports Pavilions and Kindergartens
  • Experience in the renewal / extension of existing buildings and experience in new building designs on greenfield sites. 
  • Demonstrated experience managing and coordinating specialist consultants including structural, civil and services engineers
  • Experience in 5 star Green Star design and management of ESD consultants
  • Experience in presenting architectural designs to user groups and other Council stakeholders
  • Experience in the management of significant capital works projects, development of tenders, contracts and engagement and supervision of specialist consultants and contractors. 
  • High level of expertise to read and interpret architectural, structural and services plans, drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in tendering, contract, documentation, construction and administration. 
  • Experience in the use of reporting and financial phasing/forecasting in Project Management Software and OneCouncil (Council’s Financial Management software) would be beneficial.
  • Construction White Card. 
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check & Eligibility to Work check.
