About the Role

As our Local Laws Officer, you'll be the friendly face of local government, educating the community about regulations while ensuring compliance across our diverse municipality. This role offers the chance to work autonomously while being supported by an experienced and collaborative team.

What You’ll deliver

  • Conduct field inspections and respond to community complaints with professionalism and empathy.
  • Educate residents and businesses about local laws through positive engagement.
  • Investigate breaches and implement appropriate enforcement actions when necessary.
  • Prepare detailed reports and maintain accurate records using council systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external agencies to resolve complex issues.
  • Attend community events to build relationships and increase awareness.

What You’ll Bring

  • Advanced Diploma of Justice, Diploma of Justice, a Certificate IV in Investigation, Local Government Statutory Regulation, or other relevant qualification or relevant experience is essential for this position.
  • Experience in local laws, compliance, or regulatory enforcement.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to handle challenging conversations.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making abilities.
  • Current driver's licence and willingness to travel across the municipality.
  • Commitment to fairness, integrity, and community service.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check, and Functional Assessment (Medical/physio).
