About the Role 

In this leadership role, you will drive Casey’s strategic land‑use planning agenda and deliver innovative, sustainable planning solutions that guide the city’s long‑term growth.

This role is perfect for a strong communicator who thrives in complex environments, enjoys shaping policy, and excels at building relationships with senior leaders, stakeholders and the community.

Lead a talented team to develop strategic plans, implement planning scheme amendments and oversee key projects that will shape the future of one of Victoria's largest and fastest-growing communities.

What You’ll deliver 

  • Lead and manage the Casey Planning Scheme, including monitoring, reviewing, preparing and implementing strategic plans, policies and amendments to support sustainable long‑ and short term development.
  • Oversee delivery of strategic land use and development projects, including consultant coordination, community engagement, statutory approvals and preparation of briefs, submissions and appeals.
  • Provide expert, organisation wide strategic planning advice that is evidence based, responsive to emerging trends and aligned with Council and community priorities.
  • Drive Casey’s planning reform agenda through effective project management, stakeholder engagement, and clear communication with internal and external partners.
  • Lead, coach and performance‑manage staff and contributors to ensure high quality outcomes, collaborative practices and alignment with Council’s customer service objectives.

What You’ll Bring 

  • Tertiary qualifications in town planning (or related field) supported by extensive strategic planning experience.
  • Proven leadership capability, including supervising and motivating teams in complex, shifting environments.
  • Strong knowledge of the Victorian Planning System, legislation and policy, with the ability to interpret and guide strategic planning processes.
  • Excellent communication, relationship‑building, analytical, organisational and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated success in managing strategic projects, consultants, budgets and timelines, with a strategic mindset and understanding of local government influences and planning reform.
  • Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check, Eligibility to Work check and Psychometric Testing.
