About the Role
Lead strategic planning for major activity centres by delivering key plans and policies, developing place-based strategies, and driving positive planning and economic outcomes through stakeholder collaboration.
What You’ll deliver
- Lead complex strategic planning initiatives – deliver planning scheme amendments, major projects, and key strategic plans.
- Manage end-to-end projects – oversee consultants, community engagement, and project delivery to achieve high-quality outcomes.
- Provide expert planning advice and negotiation – work with developers, government, and stakeholders to secure positive outcomes.
- Represent Council and advocate for outcomes – prepare submissions and represent Council at VCAT, panels, and public forums.
- Drive leadership and partnerships – mentor staff, build strong stakeholder relationships, and support organisational priorities and performance.
What You’ll Bring
- A degree in Town Planning, Urban Studies or Urban Geography or equivalent qualification.
- Extensive strategic land use planning experience (local government preferred)
- Strong background in project delivery, policy development, and planning frameworks
- Proven leadership and team mentoring capability
- Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and community consultation experience
- Willingness to undergo pre-employment background checks including National Criminal History Check, Working with Children Check and Eligibility to Work check.
