About the Role
Join an IT Governance team that's strengthening governance, accountability and informed decision-making across one of Australia's largest local governments.
Working closely with technology and business stakeholders, you'll help integrate IT governance requirements into existing Council processes and ways of working. From policy and controls through to assurance, supplier governance and financial oversight, you'll help make governance clear, practical and proportionate to technology decisions.
What You’ll deliver
Help Casey strengthen technology governance through practical advice, clear frameworks and consistent ways of working.
Reporting to the Team Leader IT Governance, you’ll contribute to the development, application and continuous improvement of technology governance across Council.
IT governance is shared across the team, with this role having a particular focus on policy, standards and controls, and integrating technology governance requirements into supplier, contract, financial and asset processes.
You’ll work alongside procurement and other subject matter experts who own their respective processes and specialist requirements, helping identify where IT governance needs to apply and embedding it into existing ways of working.
You’ll also contribute across the team’s broader governance capabilities, providing practical advice, sharing knowledge and supporting assurance, reporting and continuous improvement.
Your work will contribute to Casey’s IT direction by strengthening governance and accountability, supporting trusted partnerships and helping Council make informed decisions about its technology investment.
You’ll contribute across a range of technology governance activities, with a focus on:
- Governance, policy and controls: Develop, maintain and apply policies, standards, controls and governance practices.
- Advice and assurance: Help teams understand governance requirements and support reporting, assurance and informed decision-making.
- Supplier and contract governance: Work with procurement and other subject matter experts to embed IT governance requirements into established procurement, contracting, supplier and renewal processes.
- Financial and asset governance: Support expenditure visibility, forward planning, purchasing and technology asset governance.
- Continuous improvement: Identify opportunities to improve governance practices, processes and the IT Governance team’s capabilities.
What You’ll Bring
You can turn governance and commercial requirements into advice people can use. You build working relationships, ask questions and follow through on details:
- Experience in technology governance, policy, risk, assurance, compliance or related governance activities.
- Experience applying policies, standards, frameworks and controls in a complex organisation.
- Experience working with procurement, legal, finance and other subject matter experts to integrate IT governance requirements into established business processes, supported by an understanding of supplier, contract, procurement and financial governance.
- Analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to identify issues and provide clear recommendations.
- Communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to work with technical and non-technical teams.
- The ability to organise competing priorities, maintain accurate records and improve processes.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology, Business, Governance, Risk, Audit, Procurement or a related discipline, or lesser formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience.
- National Criminal History Check and Working with Children Check
Why this role matters
Good governance helps people make better decisions. In this role, you’ll help Casey make IT governance practical and consistent, giving teams clearer guidance while strengthening accountability, assurance and oversight of technology investment.
