We are currently seeking a Creative Engagement Officer to join a small but dynamic team within the Arts and Libraries Branch. The branch consists of Creative Industries, Festivals and Events, the Museum of Australian Photography, and the Monash Public Library Service.

About the Position

The Creative Engagement Officer will bring their strong understanding and passion for the arts sector to design, deliver, and promote creative programs in the City of Monash. The right candidate will enjoy driving initiatives to build the capacity and capabilities of our local creatives, actively seeking funding opportunities, and fostering community participation and partnerships. They will play a crucial role in advocating for the creative sector, ensuring that the value and impact of arts, culture, and creative industries are recognized and supported across the city.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated understanding and experience of the role of arts, galleries, public art and creative industries development play within a multicultural and diverse community
  • Experience in the design, marketing, promotion and delivery of creative programs that respond to diverse community needs and interests
  • Sound organisational skills in an arts environment, including the delivery of concurrent projects and tasks with conflicting deadlines; ability to set priorities; be initiative-taking and work with limited supervision
  • Excellent people skills and public presentation skills including the ability to successfully liaise with a range of internal and external stakeholders for the delivery of arts programming
  • Highly developed written and oral communications skills with the ability to adapt to different medium
  • Ability to work under pressure and problem solve, with a creative and adaptive mindset

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a qualification in Arts/Cultural Management or equivalent, with demonstrated experience working in innovative and creative industries. 

  • Employee Working with Children’s Check (if applicable)
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements
