Exciting Opportunity: Zero Waste Champion – (Band 6)

Are you passionate about sustainability, waste reduction, and community engagement? Do you enjoy driving behaviour change and delivering impactful education programs? If so, we have a fantastic opportunity for you!

Join our dynamic Resource Recovery team as the Zero Waste Champion for a five-week period, commencing Monday 22 September and concluding Friday 24 October 2025. This role plays a key part in delivering Council’s waste education and engagement initiatives, with a strong focus on reducing contamination, increasing resource recovery, and supporting the circular economy.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver targeted education and engagement programs aligned with Council’s Waste Strategy and Environmental Sustainability Strategy.
• Promote correct recycling practices for food, green and commingled materials.
• Coordinate and evaluate community education sessions, including schools, preschools, and community groups.
• Support residents and community leaders to adopt sustainable waste behaviours.
• Contribute to the development of strategic waste minimisation projects and reporting.

Key Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience in community engagement and education.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver outcomes within set timeframes.
• Knowledge of waste minimisation, recycling systems, and sustainability principles.
• Experience in project coordination and evaluation.
