About the Position

We are seeking adaptable, inclusive and passionate fitness professionals to join our Active Communities team. This role is suited for Personal Trainers with the ability to deliver programs and classes for diverse ages, abilities, and backgrounds, including older adults, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, and all genders, out in the community.

This is a unique opportunity to work beyond the gym floor, leading fitness sessions and community-based programs in various settings such as parks, halls, reserves, undercover and in the sunshine.

Confident leading groups of all sizes and abilities. You will need to feel comfortable delivering engaging, inclusive sessions to groups ranging from 3 to 30 participants. Our programs support people of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels. So being adaptable, supportive and able to create a welcoming space for everyone is essential.

This role requires flexibility to work early mornings, evenings and occasional weekends to support a variety of community programs and events.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver inclusive and engaging group training sessions that cater to all fitness levels and demographics.
  • Deliver structured programs such as older adults’ functional training, outdoor boot camps, gentle movement classes, and family-inclusive activities.
  • Promote a welcoming environment that supports gender neutrality and celebrates diversity in all its forms.
  • Build strong relationships with community members, encouraging participation and confidence in physical activity
  • Collaborate with other team members to support health promotion events, seasonal activations, and community outreach
  • Adapt exercises and modify programs to suit participant’s needs while maintaining safety and enjoyment
  • Champion the Active Monash “Participate Your Way” approach in every session

Skills and Experience

  • Certificate III and IV in Fitness
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering inclusive fitness classes for all abilities and age groups
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport quickly
  • A passion for community wellbeing and inclusive participation
  • Ability to be flexible, innovative and supportive within a team and with diverse groups
  • Experience working in community or outdoor settings is advantageous
  • An understanding of trauma-informed or gender-neutral practice is highly regarded

Requirements

  • Certificate III & IV in Fitness
  • Current Level 2 First Aid Certificate
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check
  • Registration with AUSactive
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Legal right to work in Australia
