About the Role 

Are you a seasoned HR professional with a strong background in employment relations? If you have supported leaders in managing complex people matters and thrive working in a varied role, this may be the next role for you!

We are currently seeking an experienced Employment Relations Specialist to join our team on a permanent full-time basis. In this dynamic role, you will work closely with both our schools and Catholic Schools office employees, providing expert advice on all aspects of employment and industrial relations (ER/IR) across the employee lifecycle. 

This role will report directly to the Employment Relations Manager, and provides an outstanding opportunity to work in a busy and friendly team environment, delivering high standards and timely outcomes for our organisation. This is an exciting time to join our team as we are undergoing a period of transformation across our People and Culture (P&C) operating model, so this role will play a key role in shaping our future ways of working.  

We are working on a hybrid model with the flexibility of working 50% split between our Parramatta office (located in front of a light rail stop) and working from home.

The variety of your role will include:

  • Partnering with and supporting stakeholders by providing professional ER/IR advice on a range of matters, including discrimination, harassment, bullying, employment terms and conditions, complaint management, policy interpretation and legislative interpretation

  • Managing a caseload effectively involving a combination of procedural fairness principles time management skills, prioritising tasks and attention to detail in drafting related documentation/reports

  • Addressing enquiries from, and working collaboratively with unions and employee representatives on Industrial Relations matters to minimise industrial disputes

  • Reviewing, developing and assisting in the implementation of existing and new P&C policies, practices and programs to meet organisational needs

  • Assisting with the Enterprise Agreement making process, including the preparation of related documentation and resources

  • Supporting change management processes

  • Collaborating and working in partnership with internal P&C teams on the development and implementation of P&C projects and initiatives.

What you will bring;

To be successful in the role, you will demonstrate alignment to our purpose and values, together with:

  • Degree qualified in HR or similar would be preferred (experience as a HR Business Partner, ER Advisor or similar)

  • Proven experience in a similar role, working within a complex organisation, exceptional customer service and stakeholder management skills

  • Proven experience drafting clear and effective correspondence and letters

  • Strong planning, organising and multi-tasking skills

  • Proven experience working with various HRIS platforms, preferably Success Factors

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • An understanding of the Catholic Education System is preferred but not essential
