Senior Litigation Specialist

Summary: Lead the resolution of complex workers compensation litigation and dispute matters, providing technical expertise, strategic insights and leadership to deliver exceptional customer and scheme outcomes.

  • Salary commencing from $154,231 + super, dependent on skills and experience

About the Role

As a Senior Litigation Specialist, you will play a critical role in managing complex pre-litigation and litigation disputes across the NSW workers compensation scheme. Working closely with Dispute Resolution and Significant Litigation Leaders, you will influence litigation strategy, provide technical leadership, deliver business insights and help drive improved customer and scheme outcomes.

Duties

It's an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same. As a Senior Litigation Specialist you will:

  • Manage complex liability reviews and dispute matters across workers compensation claims
  • Lead and oversee litigation matters before the Personal Injury Commission and the Courts
  • Engage, instruct and manage legal service providers and claims service providers on dispute and litigation matters
  • Provide technical leadership, mentoring and coaching within the Dispute Resolution team
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver positive customer outcomes and support business objectives
  • Identify trends, risks and opportunities to improve decision-making, customer experience and scheme performance
  • Prepare and analyse dispute and litigation reporting, data insights and trend analysis
  • Monitor emerging litigation trends and assess potential impacts on the scheme
  • Ensure legal, regulatory and reputational risks are proactively managed
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across dispute resolution and litigation management processes

Skills & Experience

  • Extensive experience in workers compensation disputes, litigation or insurance-related matters
  • Strong understanding of workers compensation legislation and dispute resolution frameworks
  • Experience managing litigated matters within private practice, government or insurance environments
  • Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and build strong working relationships
  • Strong analytical skills with experience interpreting data, trends and business insights
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for delivering quality customer outcomes with empathy and professionalism
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex and evolving environment
  • Admission as a legal practitioner in NSW with a current practising certificate will be highly regarded
