About the Role
This role will support and facilitate the implementation and monitoring of effective risk and compliance management practices relating to incident and issue management to ensure icare meets its legal, regulatory and internal policy obligations. The role will assist in the delivery of incident and issue management strategies which are designed to build incident and issue management capability in the organization. Leverage your deep subject matter expertise and experience to support and facilitate the effective management of risk associated with regulatory bodies, privacy, cyber, and/or technology, within the Workers Compensation.

Duties
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as an Incident & Issues Specialist you will:
- Subject matter expertise in risk and compliance management practices in relation to incident and issue management.
- Partner with the business to support the design and implementation of the incident and issue management processes and monitoring mechanisms
- Provide support to incident coordinators in incident and issue management, root cause analysis and identification of remediation actions and mitigating controls
- Proactively provide support to help identify, record, escalate and manage incidents, compliance breaches, issues and associated Risk Connect actions appropriately
- Provide coaching to incident coordinators to uplift incident and issue management capability in the team
- Take the lead in management reporting and escalation, root cause analysis, review of remediation activities and assessment and agreement on control uplift/new control design actions for all High rated incidents and issues engaging broader risk/assurance and compliance team as needed
- Conduct analysis of incident and issue trends and themes based on reports provided by incident coordinators and identify any systemic themes, control gaps, control uplift opportunities to assist business risk owners in the development and maintenance of business unit and scheme Risk Profiles, obligations register and control assurance activities for the Workers Compensation function
- Support continuous improvement of processes relating to the identification, adherence to and escalation of non-compliance with icare internal policies or compliance obligations engaging the compliance team as needed
- Contribute to regular incident and issue management reports, risk and compliance reporting, including Management, Committee and Board reporting as required
- Contribute to the design of enhancements to Risk Connect, to align with governance and operational needs
- Provide support to the Incident & Issue Lead in monitoring quality of incident and issue reporting and escalations to incident and issue business owners and the WC LT to ensure continuous improvement
- Collaborate with Line 2 Risk and Governance to receive direction on requirements for operational issue and incident management and to develop and conduct training relating to incident and issue management, as required
- Coordinate and facilitate regular forums to facilitate information sharing, trend identification, gap analysis and improvements
- Promote and encourage a positive risk culture.
Skills & Experience
- 3-4 years, well-rounded compliance experience, at an operational level
- Preferred experience in insurance industry or banking industry
- A broad range of relevant workers insurance industry experience
- Experience operating in a risk/compliance role, preferably with incident and action management experience
- Deep level of subject matter expertise and experience in at least one of: SIRA or other regulatory bodies; privacy, cyber and/or technology
