About the Role
Delivering strong commercial outcomes on our projects is paramount to BMD’s sustainability. In a Subcontracts Manager role, you will be responsible for overseeing subcontractors on the project and management of commercial and contract matters relating to the subcontracts. Also monitors supplier and contract compliance, ensuring policies and procedure requirements are met.
- Develop and maintain a project subcontracting strategy
- Prepare and review tendering and formation of all subcontracts including contract administration processes and negotiation
- Ability to manage risk and insurance issues relating to subcontracts
- Review project budget and ensure adequate allocation to subcontracts to reflect subcontracting strategy on project
- Oversee and manage administration of all subcontracts to optimise earnings on project
- Preparation of all claims and variations for the adjustment of compensation and time under the various subcontracts
- Management and resolution of all claims with subcontractors / suppliers in accordance with Contract Formation and Administration Operating Standards
- Provide input to cost control and forecasting of final cost at completion position for all subcontracts
- Provide commercial and contract advice and support to project team members on all subcontracts matters
- Participate in project risk and opportunity reviews on a minimum monthly frequency.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:
- Tertiary qualification in an appropriate engineering, quantity surveying, finance, accounting, legal or business discipline is preferable.
- 7+ years’ experience in the engineering and construction/infrastructure industries.
- Minimum 7 years of direct experience as a commercial or contracts manager on large value engineering and construction projects.
- Extensive experience in managing subcontracts within lump sum projects or projects which require extensive management of performance and delivery risk.
