About the Role

Delivering strong commercial outcomes on our projects is paramount to BMD’s sustainability. In a Cost Engineer role, you will effectively support the execution of cost control services on a major MRPV project in the heartland of northeast Melbourne.  Your role will include;

  • Previous experience in cost control, estimation, risk management and financial reporting at similar Construction project
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical and reporting skills
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Previous experience with the Oracle (JD Edwards), FPM, Primavera (P6) and Production/Productivity management systems is desirable
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Performs routine cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, as directed
  • Supports the implementation of cost monitoring and control standards, techniques, systems, and reports 
  • Assists with budget allocation and reporting/cost control for specific construction discipline or group of disciplines
  • Supports the preparation of cost data for proposals or contracts
  • Assists in the development of quantity take-offs for a specific discipline or specialty
  • Assists in developing specific project codes of accounts and recommends appropriate modifications and revisions

The successful candidate will be a self-starter with:

  • Qualifications in Engineering / Quantity Surveying / Construction Management or Finance
  • Experience in a similar cost engineering or project controls role on large infrastructure projects
  • Proven ability to manage cost forecasting, variance analysis and reporting
  • Strong working knowledge of construction financial systems, preferably JD Edwards, FPM and Primavera (P6)
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Excellent time management and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
