Acting as a business partner to key internal stakeholders, you’ll work closely with both site-based teams and corporate leaders to develop and deliver content, campaigns and engagement initiatives to bring to life the work BMD is doing to power futures and create legacies.

With a focus on content development, internal engagement, campaign delivery and brand alignment, you’ll play a key role in shaping and sharing the stories that define our impact.

This role requires someone confident working within a large, fast-paced organisation and comfortable communicating across diverse stakeholder groups, including a remote and site-based workforce. We’re looking for someone with hands-on experience in communications within infrastructure, construction or engineering environments.

Key responsibilities:

  • Partner with the business to develop and deliver communications aligned with major infrastructure project milestones.
  • Create compelling content for a range of channels including media, internal platforms, and awards.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams by developing and executing communication strategies aligned with infrastructure delivery and business operations.
  • Engage in media relations and deliver public messaging that supports project milestones, stakeholder engagement, and community awareness.
  • Develop a wide range of compelling communication materials, including case studies, speeches, media releases, presentations, briefing notes, newsletters, website and intranet content, brochures, fact sheets, industry award submissions, capability statements and social media copy.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of national campaigns that reflect business priorities and promote BMD’s strategic objectives.
  • Use strong research and communication skills to simplify complex topics for diverse internal and external audiences.
  • Contribute to measuring communications effectiveness through data, feedback, and analytics to continuously improve content and engagement approaches.
  • Manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment, responding flexibly to changing business needs.
  • Engage and influence business leaders to gain sponsorship and alignment for key communication initiatives.
  • Thrive in a collaborative, high-performing team culture with opportunities for learning, mentorship and professional growth.

Preferred experience:

  • Experience in a similar communications or content-focused role, ideally within the infrastructure, engineering or construction sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with technical subject matter and translate into clear, impactful communications.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and deliver outcomes in a large, complex organisation, including communication to a remote workforce.
  • Experience in driving behavioural-based change initiatives through communication.
  • Experience using content and campaign management platforms such as SharePoint, email campaign building platforms or equivalent. Design skills using Canva, InDesign or similar are desirable but not essential.

Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or similar.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a communications role.
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaborative and influence communications outcomes.
  • Willingness to travel interstate as needed to engage with site teams and gain a deeper understanding of project environments.
