About the role
Based at our Port of Brisbane Head Office, and reporting to the Senior IT Technical Systems Engineer the Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for designing, building, managing, and supporting the IT infrastructure that underpins all internal and external services.
This role requires a deep understanding of both on-premise and cloud environments, as well as expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices. The successful candidate will also have experience working effectively with remote teams.
Key responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable and secure IT infrastructure solutions.
- Manage and maintain on-premise servers, networks, and cloud-based resources.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripts using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Bicep.
- Monitor system performance and ensure the reliability and availability of infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues.
- Collaborate with DevOps, security, and development teams to integrate and optimize infrastructure.
- Implement and maintain security best practices and compliance protocols.
- Provide technical support and training to internal teams.
- Communicate effectively with remote team members to ensure seamless collaboration and project execution.
- Participate in regular virtual meetings and use collaboration tools to stay connected with the team.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect, or similar (desirable)
- Proven experience as an Infrastructure Engineer or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of on-premise and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Bicep).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Proxmox, KVM, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with network protocols, firewalls, and security best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Experience working with remote teams and using remote collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Zoom, Microsoft Teams).
- Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
